Submitting 221(g) Documents

The Consulate General may give you a 221(g) letter directing you to submit additional documents or information related to your visa application. Your application will be kept on hold at the Consulate General until you submit those documents.

All documents and information requested in a 221(g) letter should be submitted by email within one year from the date of the 221(g) letter issued. Failure to submit the required information within one year will result in the suspension of your visa application. You will be required to complete a new DS-160 nonimmigrant visa application form, pay a new visa fee, and schedule a new appointment for your visa application.

How to Submit 221(g) Documents

Electronic Copies via Email
If you received instructions to send via email an electronic copy of a document, send it in PDF to the Consulate General in accordance with the instructions you received. Attachments must not exceed 3MB.

S.F. Express returns your documents and your passport to you at your chosen document delivery address or pickup location. If issued, your passport will contain your visa. You may also receive a new 221(g) letter.
